This paper investigates the influence of vitamin D in egg-laying hens on the production of consumer eggs. The investigation was performed upon the provience ICA layers 22-31 and 42-51 weeks old. The number of eggs per input layer was larger in the control groups, while in group 1, where the laying capacity should be constantly increasing, 214,426 eggs less were obtained and in the second one 655,340 eggs less. In the control group 4 2,125 eggs, or 0.10% less per layer were obtained. In the control group 3 the number of eggs was 2,376 pieces larger than planned. Consumption of feed per produced egg was higher in the first experimental group (173.14 g) and somewhat lower in the third control group (166.87 and 167.35 g). The authors explain this difference by different age of layers. Perishing of layers in both experimental groups was higher (4.95 and 6.17%), compared with the control ones,i.e. the third and fourth ones (1.80 and 1.90%). Resistance of the egg-shell in the control groups was 2.65 and 2.60 kg/cm ,i.e. it was 0.15 and 0.20 kg/cm lower. In the experimental group 1 the egg resistance was the lowest - 1.78 kg/cm and in the 2nd one it was 1.80 kg/cm . The average weight of eggs in the experimental groups was lower than the normal. In the experimental groups the most layers died of osteomalacia.
