The data of first lactation milk yield (FLMY) on 269 daughters of 40 Murrah bulls mated randomly to 225 Murrah heifers spread over 5 sets at progeny testing scheme were analysed for each set separately. The average annual realised genetic gain for FLMY was 2.98 kg accounting for 0.19% of the base population. The projections of FLMY were computed for a decade of selection on the basis of realised genetic gain as 1609, 1657, 1758, 1810, 1864, 1920, 1977, 2036 and 2097 kg after 1,2, ... 10 years of selection. The average annual phenotypic advancement was 53.5 ranging from 47-61 kg
