Effect of plant density on growth, yield and fruit quality in guava [of India]

The results of the investigation on plant density of 278, 625, 1111 and 1600 plants of guava var. L.49 per hectare revealed that the low plant populations showed greater spread of the crown, while higher plant density caused taller plants having erect branches. Increase in plant density from 278 to 1600 showed an increase in fruit yield from 98.6 to 372.8 tons per hectare per year but the number of fruits, size of individual fruits were reduced due to high plant density in India
