Performance of some test clones [Tea in Bangladesh]

There is an increasing need for standard clones of higher yield and quality attributes which can aptly improve the productivity and quality of Bangladesh tea. Some test clones, viz B24/44, BOO/44 and B91/44 were put under performance trial against controls TVI and BT1. Of the test clones, B24/44 has attained standard yield and quality excellence comparable to controls. B24/44 has been released as standard clone in 1981 and named as BT4. The two other test clones B90/44 and B91/44 with their promising yield attributes can be used as valuable stocks for breeding research and thereby increase the germplasm.
