The paper studied the resources available to the farmers at the cropping systems research site, Kalikapur, Ishurdi, Bangladesh. The average farm size was 0.59, 1.85 and 3.86 ha for small, medium and large size of farms respectively 90 percent of large farms owned bullocks, while 40 percent of small farms owned bullocks. More than 80 percent of the total farmer's assets were from land resources. Annual gross return per hectare from traditional or improved cropping patterns were greater than the opportunity cost of selling the land. The large and medium farms showed a surplus income under traditional and improved farm practices
