Results of trials on fertilization of olive trees of local variety "Koroneiki" in East Crete

In the eight years experiment, on olive trees (variety "Koroneiki"), carried out at the major area of East Crete, during the years 1967-74, the four levels 0, 0.4, 0.8, and 1.2 kg/tree/year were applied, without and with P,K addition, which were 1.2 and 0.8 kg/tree/year for P2O5 and K2O respectively. All the fertilizers were applied on the soil surface. The indications obtained are that: 1) For the fruit production the best combination is 1.2-1.2-0.8(N-P2O5-K2O) kg/tree/year, which resulted in an increase of 23 kg/tree/year. 2) Olive oil and water content of fruit were not affected from the fertilizers. 3) For annual shoot lenght, blooming and fruit setting N had favorable effect, without significant difference between the three levels
