Association of physiological and biochemical characters with the yield of rainfed wheat

In 29 genotypes of rainfed bread-wheat there were significant genotypic differences in spike length, 1,000-grain weight, grains/spike, plant height, rolling index, canopy temperature, flag-leaf area, osmotic potential, proline content and nitrate reductase activity. Yield was strongly and positively correlated with spike lenght, grains/spike, plant height and flag-leaf area but was negatively correlated with canopy temperature
