Genetic evaluation of upland rice germplasm

Substantial genetic variability was observed for plant hight, panicle number/m2, panicle length, number of grains per panicle, spikelet sterility percentage, days of maturity, 100-grain weight and grain yield per hectare in 22 upland varieties studied. Correlation study revealed that panicle number/m2 and number of grains per panicle had significant positive association with grain yield while spikelet sterility had significant negative association with grain yield
