External quality (yield, hardness) as well as several constituents such as dry matter, vitamin C, thiocyanate ion content, nitrate, reducing sugar and pectic substance of cultivars in parts of the root were studied. Quality charcters of different cultivars were reported and discussed. Korean cultivars were harder and contented more dry matter, vitamin C and thiocyanate ion than japanese ones, but the nitrate content was reverse
