Black currant cultivars in Western Norway
1985
Meland, M. (Statens Forskingsstasjon Ullensvang, Lofthus (Norway))
The black currant cultivars 'Wallace Seedling', 'Ben Nevis' and 'Silvergieter' gave the highest yields in a trial with 17 cultivars grown at three localities in Western Norway during the years 1976-82. The cultivar 'Oejebyn' showed high resistance against powdery mildew, while 'Silvergieter', 'Tor Cross' and 'Amos Black' were highly affected. The cultivars 'Silvergieter' and 'Roodknop' had the most erect growth habit. Most of the cultivars were ripe by August 1st. 'Ben Nevis' is recommended for commercial production and 'Oejebyn' for home gardens
