Velasco, M.N.I. | Bautista, J.G. III | Cruz, L.N.
Banana rejects were dehydrated and ground to form a meal which was utilized in the formulation of broiler rations. Banana meal was used to replace ground corn at 25 and 50% levels of the broiler ration consisting of 56% ground corn. Results over an 8-week feeding period indicated that the optimum level of banana meal incorporation in the diet was 25% banana meal replacing ground corn (or 14% banana meal of the total ration). At this level, the birds showed comparable body weight gain, feed intake, feed conversion efficiency and carcass quality to those fed the control diet (no banana meal)
