Effects of prolonged continuous medication of sulfamonomethoxine on the egg production of white leghorn layers

The results showed no significant differences in mortality rates, liveweights, egg production, egg size, egg weight, shell weight, feed efficiency, and RBC picture between medicated and non-medicated groups. The number of eggs produced with thin, cracked and soft shells was higher in medicated groups than those recorded in the non-medicated control group. The total number of poor eggs produced however, was less than 1% of the total egg production. The results indicated that sulfamonomethoxine given continuously with the feed at the level of 0.0025% to 0.005% does not cause adverse effects on the general health and egg production performance of white leghorn layers
