Spot picking of apples always and significantly increased the size of fruits and degree of colouring. High effectiveness of this method of picking was found in the apples of the summer varieties, such as Close, Yellow Transparent and Melba. The obtained increase was about 25%. It was also determined that the ripe apples had a higher content of dry mass, water soluble solids and total sugars, and less acids than the apples picked only once. (Authors)
