Effect of method of phosphorus fertilizer application on the yield of maize

Type of phosphorus fertilizer and manner of application had no significant effect on growth rate and length of the growing period in maize. A beneficial effect of starter phosphorus dressings became manifest only in the initial growth stages when the soil temperature was low i. e. less than 6 degrees C. It was reflected in improved emergence, better plant survival and in more ears per unit area. Phosphorus fertilization increased phosphorus content in the dry matter of young maize plants
