Long-term fertilization with phosphorus (every three years) of an alluvial soil under grassland resulted in an increase of available phosphorus content. There were no differences in herbage yields and plant phosphorus contents between the annual and long-term phosphorus applications. The data support the advisability of long-term phosphorus fertilization of grasslands
