Characteristics of the production efficiency of an industrial young cattle rearing farm [in Poland]

The investigation on the rearing of heifers (Black-and-White breed) were carried out in the industrial farm Droszewo. The mean body weight of calves and weight gains from 6 to 16 months of age were lower than the standard ones. The average body weight of heifers of 16 to 18 months of age amounted 340 to 380 kg. Most heifers were mated at the age of 18-21 months. The highest pregnancy rate was found after the first insemination at the age of 18 months. Under present rearing conditions there is a possibility of sooner insemination time by about two months
