Nitrogen compounds content of potato tubers as influenced by nitrogen fertilization in the Olsztyn region

Effect of increasing nitrogen rates on the content of various forms of nitrogen in the tubers of five potato cultivars was studied. The largest increase in total nitrogen amounted to 38% in cv. Ronda to 55% in cv. Pola and in protein nitrogen 31% in cv. Narew to 42% in cv. Sowa. Increasing rates of nitrogen resulted in a marked increase in N-NH4 and N-NO3. Nutritive value of protein expressed in terms of exogenic amino acids content was the highest under the nitrogen rates of 40 to 120 kg N/ha
