Inheritance of resistance to stalk lodging in maize hybrids of F1 generation

The research was done in 4 inbred lines of maize with different levels of resistance to the lodging, which belonged to the semident and semiflint maize types (ZPK 134, ZPV 158, B 14 and Va 35) and 3 corresponding hybrids of F2 generation. Analysing the gotten results it was concluded that only in hybrid combination created by crossing and resistant to the lodging inbred line, the statistical differences in relation to standards were very significant,i.e. the stability for lodging was increasing by the increasement of number of internode to the stem of lower cob. The heterogenous effect was the greatest in hybrid combination gotten by crossing the resistant inbred lines B 14 and Va 35. It was concluded that unresistant hybrids had the same height as the resistant ones, but the smaller number of internodes to the stem of upper cob which were expanded and susceptible to crackness. The greatest number of conducting tissues had the combination gotten by crossing 1 resistable 1 and unresistable inbred line (K 133 x B 14), and the smallest number by crossing 2 resistant inbred lines. The highest yield was attained by hybrid combination of 1 resistant and 1 unresistant inbred lines. The values of correlation coefficient between the percentage of the lodging plants and the other investigated features did not give the statistically important results.
