The study of Ascochyta pisi Lib. parasite of peas (Pisum sativum L.)

For studying Ascochyta pisi, two isolates of the infected pea plants from areas in SAP Kosovo (Yugoslavia) were used, those from Ada (isolate A), and those from Prizren (isolate B). It has been concluded that these two isolates differ in the growth of sporulation, physiological requirements and pathogenity. The minimum time of moisturizing required for successful A. pisi infection is 3 hours. The infection index increases when the plant is subjected to moist conditions up to 48 hours. The 20 degrees Centigrade incubation takes 5 days, and pycnidia are formed in a 12 or 14 day period. The increase of the number of pycnospores affects the stage of infection, the increase and vegetative mass of the plants. The pathogene damages the growing point and the secondary sprouts appear. On the sterilized parts of the stem, A.pisi forms pycnidia after 3 days of incubation on 16, 20 and 24 degrees Centigrade. Out of all tested sorts of peas the Paloma, Green Valley, Finale and 155109 Line showed resistance to A.pisi.
