Field experiments were carried out by Agronomy and Soil Chemistry Divisions of Bangladesh Rice Research Institute (BRRI) during 1981-83. The trial area covered BRRI field and its adjoining project areas in Joydebpur and Sreepur. Fertilizer was applied at 80-60-40 kg/ha of NP(2)O(5)K(2)O during Aus, Aman and Boro season. Results indicated that grain yield of rice increased with fertilizer used and that straight fertilizers were almost similar in 3 seasons. Use of complex fertilizer in rice cultivation is not economic because applications of 80-60-40 kg/ha o. N-P-K involves more than 14% extra cost due to its higher price as well as lower nutrient content
