Rooting of filbert cuttings: woundings, auxins, and polyvinylpyrrolidone effect
1986
Rodriguez, A. | Sanchez-Tames, R. (Oviedo Univ. (Spain). Dept. de Fisiologia Vegetal)
Rooting of filbert cuttings taken monthly from September to March was studied in relation with basal wounding of the cuttings, and exogenous application of auxins (IBA, NAA) and PVP (as a phenolics sequestering substance). December, January and February cuttings developed roots, having the auxins, specially IBA, and enhancement effect, mainly in cuttings without woundings. Treatment of the cuttings with PVP led to a complete inhibition of rhizogenesis in cuttings without woundings and to the highest rhizogenic answer (80%) in cuttings with woundings harvested in January. The effects of auxins were only observed in those months in which controls showed some rhizogenic response
