Pattern of nitrogen fixation in green manure crops [Sesbania, cowpea, Guar]

It was observed that all the crops increased in soil N content. The excretion of N from roots into the soil adhering to the roots increased with increase in crop age. Maximum N was fixed by Sesbania and minimum by cowpea. For harvesting maximum nitrogen, sesbania should be allowed to grow for maximum feasible time
