Haemoglobin content and patterns in Surti buffaloes at different ages [India]

Haemoglobin and its pattern in Surti-she buffalo blood in eight different age groups ranging from birth to 36 months were evaluated to find out influence of age on above parameters. The average values recorded during the course of investigation of Hb, alpha1-globin and alpha2-globin were 10.03%, 29.6% and 70.4% respectively. It was found that Hb content and alpha1-globin of Hb are influenced by age. These parameters showed variation amongst all the groups, whereas alpha2-globin did not indicate significant variation. It is seen from this study that the data obtained are within the normal range reported for buffaloes by several previous workers
