Isolation of Toxoplasma gondii and serological diagnosis of Toxoplasma in sheep and goat (in Iraq)

The direct microscopical examination of the sediment resulting from tissue suspension of diaphragm after digestion with pepsin showed the presence of Toxoplasma gondii parasite in 22 out of 59 sheep cases examined and 15 out of 41 goat cases examined. By correlating these data with that shown by the serological tests it was clear that the titre of 1:16 in the indirect haemagglutination test can be considered as the lowest reliable titre for the confirmation of the presence of infection with Toxoplasma gondii
