This study was aimed to investigate the effect of a petroleum compound on the evaporation and distribution of salts and moisture through a soil profile.The results indicated that petroleum compound caused a considerable reduction in the evaporation of water from soilsurface and consequently the volume of irrigation water would be less than that needed by untreated soil
