[Evaluation on cold storage capability of "Tardivo di Ciaculli" mandarin]

The results of a storage test conducted in order to establish the optimum conditions for extending post-harvest life of "Tardivo di Ciaculli" mandarin are reported. The following cold parameters were tested: 1-2 deg. C. and 6-7 deg. C. each with 80 and 95% pf relative humidity for periods of one, two and three months followed by 2 weeks of shelf-life at 20 deg. C. Optimal results in fruit keeping quality were obtained with storage at 4-5 deg. C. and 95% rh. Under the other conditions the total losses increased, juice content decreased and a lack of peel brightness was detected
