Finding the effect of plant density on yield and protein content of malting barley in Chonnam area, Dusan No. 12 was seeded on Oct 15 and Oct 30. The optimum number of plants per m2 was 400 to 600 on Oct 15 and 600 to 800 on Oct 30. The protein content of Oct 30 sowing was higher than that of Oct 15 sowing and that of large grain was lower than that of small grain. Correlation between yield and 1000 grain weight, grading of grain of Oct 15 sowing was positive significance, and 1000 weight of Oct 30 sowing was also highly positive significance but the length of spike was negative significance
