The effects of different bedding substrates on the production of mushroom [Philippines]
1985
Honrado, A.D.
The results of the study revealed that the number of days required for the first flush to appear, total number of flushes, length of production period, and mushroom yield in terms of total number and total weight of harvested buttons were significantly affected by different bedding substrates at 5 percent level. The earliest flush appearance was observed on beds composed of cogon grass and banana leaves (8.67-9.67 days after spawning); the highest number of flushes (30.33) was recorded on banana leaves; the longest production period was observed on cogon grass and banana leaves (11-14 days); the highest number (71.67 buttons) and heaviest weight of mushroom buttons (1,666.67 grams) were obtained by banana leaves as substrates
