Estrus and conception in lactating does treated with a prostaglandin F2-alpha analogue [Philippines]

Of the 16 does treated with either 10 mg or 2 x 10 mg PGF2-alpha, only one from the former was induced into estrus within 10 days after injection. Regardless of breed, the mean intervals from first injection of PFG2-alpha to estrus were 25.95 plus or minus 5.55 days fro 0 mg, 33.25 plus or minus 6.75 days for the 10 mg, and 39.52 plus or minus 13.22 days for the 2 x 10 mg-treated does. The mean intervals from parturition to first estrus were 85.95 plus or minus 5.55, 94.25 plus or minus 6.19 days for control, 12.1 plus or minus 6.05 days for does given 10 mg, and 23.38 plus or minus 11.69 days for those given 2 x 10 mg PGF2-alpha. The mean lengths of the service period were 98.32 plus or minus 17.92, 106.35 plus or minus 18.85, and 123.9 plus or minus 36.6 days for does given 0, 10, and 2x 10 mg PGF2-alpha, respectively. Means for services per conception were 1.12 plus or minus 0.12 for 0 mg, 1.2 plus or minus 0.2 for the 10 mg, and 1.25 plus or minus 0.25 for the 2 x 10 mg-treated group. Non-return rates to first service had a mean of 87.5%, 80% and 75% for does given 0, 10, and 2 x 10 mg of the analogue, respectively. Overall conception rates were 9375% for 0 mg, 90% for the 10 mg, and 87.5% for the 2 x 10 mg-treated animals. Anglo Nubian does had longer interval from first breeding to conception than native does. Native does had shorter service period and less services per conception
