Multiple cropping patterns in Talavera, Nueva Ecija [Philippines]

The farms in Talavera had an average capital investment of P18,819.59 per farm or P2,867.74 per hectare. Net farm earnings of the different cropping patterns averaged P1,253.64 for rice-vegetable-rice; P1,523.61 for corn-rice-vegetable-rice; P539.16 for rice-rice-vegetable and P1.168.75 for rice-vegetable-vegetable-rice. Regardless of the cropping patterns used, the net farm earning was P4,385.16 for all farms. The average labor days spent was 275.46 and 118.81 valued at P2,649.57 and P1,142.85 per farm and per hectare, respectively. Among the cultural management practices, wetbed was employed for rice and plot seedbed for vegetable; plowing once for rice and several times for vegetable; while harrowing was performed several-times for rice and vegetables.
