Duration of weed control in lowland taro (Colocasia esculenta)

The effect of different weed control durations in lowland taro [Colocasia esculenta (L.) Schott 'Kalpao'] was determined at two planting distances. Weed weight, weed density, height, number of leaves and suckers, petiole girth and yield of lowland taro were influenced by various weed control treatments. The number and weight of weeds decreased while the vegetative and corm yield increased as the period of weeding was increased from 2 to 14 weeks. A weed-free period of 14 weeks from planting resulted in the highest corm yield and net income. Planting distance did not affect any of the parameters
