Several blood characteristics were determined on piglets loaded intraperitoneally with iron-dextran during 2 weeks. Bacteria-eliminating ability and efficiency of phagocytic cells decreased, disturbances in glucose oxygen metabolism and decrease in peripheral blood neutrophils occurred. Number of T lymphocytes decreased while percentage of B ones increased. Iron loading did not affect the lysozyme activity
