Humus complexes with heavy metals as a protection against soil contamination

The protective role of humus in preventing soil pollution with heavy metals was studied. Chromium was found to be bound much stronger by humus than copper, the former creating complexes with humic acids and the latter forming mainly salts. It was concluded that humus was a factor in preventing soil pollution
