Effect of increasing mineral fertilization rate on soluble and structural sugar contents in pasture forage

The pasture was divided into three complexes (A, B and C) and for four consecutive years was fertilized as follows: A - 200 kg N, 75 kg P2O5 and 100 kg K2O; B - 300, 112.5 and 150 kg; C - 400 kg, 150 and 200 kg. In the third and fourth year of grazing the forage samples were taken. Increased fertilization rate significantly decreased the content of simple sugars, water-soluble sugars as well as nitrogen-free extract. The structural carbohydrate content was not related to fertilization rate
