Pathological lesions in the digital phalanges of cattle and in the metacarpal bones of the deer were described. The lesions were found to be caused by inflammation and necrosis of the periosteum. It seems that the necrosis and inflammatory process affected also the terminal parts of the tendons of the digital constrictors and their synovial sheats
