Rates of potassium fertilization of up to 160 kg/ha were economically warranted. Effectiveness of potassium fertilization was higher on soils poor in available potassium and on those rated as "wheat complexes". An equalized balance of potassium was reached at rates of 90 to 150 kg K2O/ha/year, depending on crop yields
