The present paper describes the morphological and histochemical aspects of folliculogenesis stages within the ovary of nutria. Until they reach the splitting stadium, they have to undergo the following developmental stages : primordial follicle, primary, secondary, cavitary incipient, cavitary, mature and splitting. Within the ovarian cortex, there was evidence for poliovocytary follicles containing 2-6 ovocytes. For each folliculogenesis step, particular morphological and histochemical aspects proved to be evident as compared with other mammals species.
