Romanian categories of meadows according to necessity of their meliorating

The paper represents a synthesis on the Romanian categories of meadows (occurring on about 30% of the agricultural area) according to the necessity of their meliorating. It is based on the informations - stocked on the computer existing for the entire country on the scale 1:50.000 which were reworked for this purpose. For characterizing the categories of land with meadows which require meliorative works the limiting factors of the production and their intensities were taken into account. These categories have been established on the bases of those soil features which influence and determine the growth and development of meadows. In the paper a grouping of the 41 Romanian districts with similar environmental conditions and necessities of meliorating the meadows are also presented.
