The investigation was performed with sugar beet crop on carbonate chernozem soil. The experiment involved application of 4 kg/ha of boron in the form of boric acid. The application of boron increased the content of easily available boron in the soil by 0.25 ppm. It had no major influence upon root yield, since the same increased only by 5.2 mc/ha. Poor effects of boron application were probably due to median to good availability of boron in the carbonate chernozem, and also to insufficient dose.
