This paper encompasses the results of the study carried out on large number of the leading European varieties of rape seed aimed at determining the usefulness of their introduction. Experiments were conducted on several localities in SFRY. The following properties were tested: survival during winter, beginning of flowering, ripening, moisture content at harvest time, yield oil content, fatty acid content in oil and glucosinolate.
