The paper considers several models of private estates specializing in sheep-raising, taking into account the conditions of production in the Sjenica-Pestera plateau (SFRY). The authors have monitored fluctuations of production results arising from the following factors: the intensity of fodder production, intensity of sheep-raising, sizes of herds, types of meals for the sheep, systems and rates of mechanization of various production stages, available funds and credit facilities for capital construction and available acreage. The paper concludes that the acreage of 10 ha enables raising of 100-150 sheep structural units. Tripling the number of animals in herd requires a capital cost increase by 55-65%. A more intensive production calls for material costs higher by 11-18%. The utilization of silage in the meals increases the cost by 10-17%, as compared to the meals without silage. Doubling the number of animals in herd raises the depreciation cost per estate by 15-25%. The increase of the number of animals from 100 to 300 increases the income coefficient from 308 to 383.
