Changes in the periods for attaining the cacao (Theobroma cacao) blackpod disease infection peaks in Ghana
1988
Dakwa, J.T. (Cocoa Research Inst., Tafo (Ghana))
Investigation of the pattern of development of cacao blackpod disease in Ghana is reported. Irrespective of the cacao type, susceptibility ratings and the agronomic practices, the period for attaining the peak of the disease infection, which varied yearly, is determined by the weather, particularly the rainfall, which must be critically examined and related to the pattern of blackpod development. The rate of disease development did not consistently fall after the peak of infection. This observation is important in the chemical control of the disease
