The inheritance of protein content was investigated in a 6 x 6 diallel of amaranths (Amaranthus hypochondriacus L.). Significant differences in grain protein percentage were found between cultivars and their hybrids. The studies on genetic components of variation, variance-covariance and parental standardized deviation graphs, and combining ability indicated the importance of both additive as well as non-additive gene effects in the F1 and F2
