In 28 virginia runner varieties of groundnut (Arachis hypogaea L.) the coefficient of variability, heritability, genetic advance, correlations and path co-efficients of different yield components were investigated. It was concluded that selection for more number of secondary branches, number of mature pods per plant besides higher 100-pod and 100-kernel weight would help in breeding productive cultivars in the virginia runner group of groundnut
