Copper levels in soils and coffee plant Bahati - Solai, Nakuru, Kenya
1987
Maroko, J.B.
Copper containing biocides are commonly used for the control of various coffee diseases in Kenya and this could lead to accumulation of copper in the soils and plants which would antagonise the uptake of other minerals by the coffee plant. A study was carried out to determine the current status of copper in soils and coffee plant materials in major coffee growing areas in Kenya. It was found that EDTA extractable copper ranged from 1.5 to 296 ugg-1 for sub-soils and the total copper from 8.0 to 597 ugg-1 and 1.5 to 135 ugg-1 for top and sub soils respectively. For plant materials copper concentration was highest in branches and lowest in coffee beans
