[The Karst forest-economy region [Yugoslavia]]

Karst forest-economy region is in the south-western part of Slovenia (Yugoslavia) with predominantly degraded and pioneer forests on an area of 150,000 ha. The paper describes the historical course of forests destruction and the afforestation of this region. Today 42% of the area belongs to forests where following species are present: hornbeam, beech, European Turkey oak and pine in various communities, that is, natural sites, 20% belongs to lawns, 19% to pastures, 10% to fields and 6% to the rest. The paper also describes the present state in the forest-economy of this region.
