The effect of polythene mulch on the size and growth curves of sand pear (Pyrus pyrifolia Nakai) fruits

Mulch increased the fruit size under the conditions that the number of fruits per tree did not exceed 10% of that without mulch. TSS of the fruit with mulch was increased; and cracking of fruits reduced. The growth models of fruit to their width and length were also reported. Analysis of the growth models revealed that the fruit with mulch outgrows that without mulch and that the predicted size limit of the fruit with mulch is larger than that without mulch.
