Preliminary studies on the control of the inoculum origin of wheat stripe rust (Puccinia striiformis) in autumn in Abazhou

The results of the experiment and the surveys indicated that the wheat seed dressing by Yridimefon, the suitable date of sowing, and timely turning over the stubble were effective for the control of the inoculum origin of the oversummering region in autumn. The seed dressing by Tridimefon were very effective against the yellow rust of wheat, reducing the pathogen more than 90% in autumn, postponing 'the rust explosiveness' for 5-7 days in next year, giving average 68% control in ultimate phase and taking higher yield by an average 10.9% than that of the non-treatment. It also got satisfactory control against white stalk (Selenophoma sp. ), common stinkling, smuts (Tilletia caries, T. foxtida, and Ustilago tritici), and powdery mildew at the same time. The suitable date of sowing obviously reduced the pathogen number of wheat seedings in autumn and the yields is not affected. To turn over the stubble twice to eliminate volunteer wheat seedlings would force the pathogen to lose the chance of reproduction and the other pathogenic fungi to be reduced largely.
