The rooting capability of softwood cuttings of P. tometosa is highest in June-July, higher in August. The rooting capability of hardwood cuttings of P. tometosa is lower in September, lowest in October-December and highest in February-April. In spring, the buds on hardwood cuttings promote rooting of cuttings. But in winter buds do not promote or inhibit rooting of cuttings. The rooting capability of softwood cuttings is concerned with leaves on cuttings. In dormant seasons the level of endogenous ABA is highest and the rooting capability of hardwood cuttings is lowest. In growth season the level of endogenous ABA is lowest and the rooting capability of softwood cutting is highest. The water situation, the content of carbohydrate nitrogen and phenol substances, the capacity of peroxidase and the respiratory intensity of cuttings were studied. The active situation of physiology promotes rooting of cuttings.
