Effect of Chlorox and age at seed extraction on germination of garden eggs (Solanum integrifolium)

The influence on germination of garden egg seeds by fruit maturity and chlorox, a surface sterilant with possible growth promoting property, is reported. Three different fruit maturity stages were used, red, yellow and white or mature green stage were considered. The red stage gave the highest percentage germination and the white gave the lowest. Chlorox-treated seeds had higher rate and total percentage germination. The growth promoting capability of chlorox was confirmed in addition to its disinfection property
